What is Included & What to Expect
Single classes include step-by-step instructions, clay, tools, choice of glaze and all the post production work after the initial pieces have been made. (Bisque firing, glazing, and glaze firing)
Instructor will prep the wheel station with clay, aprons and tools ahead of class. You will receive a step-by-step instruction to make a small pot or bowl on the wheel. (smaller pots and bowls are easier for beginners who have never done wheel throwing before)
At the end of the class, you will then label your pieces with your name and contact number, choose a glaze color for your pieces. Instructor will then guide you through quick clean up process. This is to ensure a clean and respectful envorinment for all students and members who will be using the station after your class.
Your pieces will stay at the studio where staff will do all the post-production work like bisque firing, glazing, and glaze firing.
**Please be patient to allow 4 to 5 weeks for your pieces to go through the entire drying and firing process. We will contact you once your piece is ready to be pick up.
What to Wear
Wear comfortable clothes, close toe shoes. If you have long hair, make sure your hair could be tie back. Take off all jewlery and watches if you don't want any clay to get on them (they will wash off but it will take some efforts). We do have aprons, but do wear closthes you don't mind getting dirty.
Parking
You can park anywhere in parking lot that labled "reserved". Additional parking avaliable by the Spin Alley Bowling Center parking lot.
Student Waiver
A friendly reminder that you are coming to ClayLab Pottery for the experience of working in a pottery studio. Our instructors are friendly, knowledgable, and have been working with ceramics for years in order to learn its many nuances and skills. These skills cannot be perfected in a 3-hour session. So we encourage you to focus on enjoying the experience and the creative process rather then a perfect result. You will have more fun that way.
OCCASIONALLY, PIECES DO NOT MAKE IT THROUGH THE FIRING PROCESS DUE TO AIR BUBBLES, CONSTRUCTION ISSUES, ETC. OCCASIONALLY, FIRINGS DO NOT GO AS PLANNED AND GLAZES MAY COME OUT DIFFERENT THAN EXPECTED. WE CANNOT CONTROL THE RESULTS OF FIRINGS ONCE A POT IS IN THE KILN. THIS IS SIMPLY THE NATURE OF THE IMPERFECT CERAMIC PROCESS.
COMPLETED PIECES ARE NOT GUARANTEED.
REFUNDS WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF YOUR PIECE DOES NOT MAKE IT.
